The projects will help in developing multimodal connectivity and bridge missing infrastructure gaps

BiSAG-N has uploaded data which includes the Geo locations of steel plants belonging to Central Public Sector Enterprises (CPSEs)

The data will facilitate efficient monitoring of all of the nation's steel facilities in operation

The Ministry has also identified initiatives that will help the industry achieve its targeted goals by FY31

The Ministry of Steel has identified 38 high-impact projects to develop multimodal connectivity and bridge infrastructure gaps, after joining the Pradhan Mantri GatiShakti Portal, according to media reports.

The ministry has onboarded the portal by partnering with BiSAG-N. The institute has uploaded data which includes the locations of steel plants belonging to CPSEs, under the jurisdiction of the Steel Ministry. The geo-locations of mines belonging to these plants are yet to be uploaded, according to the reports.

The data will facilitate efficient monitoring of all of the nation’s steel facilities in operation.

The Ministry has also identified initiatives that will result in the development of much-needed logistics solutions, which in turn will help the industry achieve its targeted goals by FY31 as mentioned in the National Steel Policy, 2017. These initiatives include the planned expansion of railway lines, the creation of new inland waterways, roads, ports, gas pipeline connectivity, and airports/airstrips.

In October 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the PM Gati Shakti plan, which serves as the country’s master plan for infrastructure development.
