PM to attend 2023 Quad Summit in Sydney

Modi will also visit Japan for the G-7 Summit and attend the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation summit in Papua New Guinea

In his trips to Japan and Australia, Modi is expected to hold bilateral meetings with world leaders, members of the G-7 and Quad countries

The leaders of India, Japan, Australia and the US will gather in Sydney on May 24 for the Quad Summit to discuss ways to promote stability in the Indo-Pacific region

The discussions will be held with world leaders alongside important regional institutions

This will be the third in-person Quad Leaders' Summit and the first time Australia will host the meeting

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the 2023 Quad Leaders’ Summit, marking his first visit to Australia since 2014. Ahead of the summit, Modi will first visit Japan for the G-7 Summit on May 20-21, followed by the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation summit in Papua New Guinea on May 22. Modi is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the USA, Japan, Australia, France, and other members of the G-7 and Quad countries.

The leaders of India, Japan, Australia and the US will gather in Sydney on May 24 for the Summit to discuss ways to promote stability in the Indo-Pacific region. This will be the third in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit and the first time Australia will host the meeting. 

In the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Sydney, the leaders are expected to discuss ways to work alongside partners and regional groupings such as ASEAN and the Pacific Islands Forum to strengthen cooperation and shape the region. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese stated that the Quad is committed to supporting an open, stable and prosperous Indo-Pacific that is respectful of sovereignty and ensures security and growth for all countries.

The discussions will be held with world leaders alongside important regional institutions such as ASEAN, the Pacific Islands Forum, the Indian Ocean Rim Association and other regional partners.

The Quad is a diplomatic partnership committed to promoting stability, resilience and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
