Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a significant bilateral meeting with Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness in New Delhi, marking a historic first visit by a Jamaican leader to India. The meeting, which took place at Hyderabad House, was followed by delegation-level discussions between the two countries, focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Holness, who arrived on September 30 for his official visit, began his day by paying floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat, reflecting Jamaica’s respect for India’s ‘Father of the Nation’. The Ministry of External Affairs shared this moment, noting the importance of the visit.

The Jamaican Prime Minister’s visit is a pivotal moment for Indo-Jamaican relations. The two nations share deep-rooted historical and cultural connections, including a shared colonial past, values of democracy and freedom, and a mutual love for cricket.
