Network participants on ONDC have increased from 24 to 81, while the network has grown to cover 13 categories from the initial three

The government-backed Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), launched in January last year, has seen a significant uptake, facilitating over 49.79 million transactions to date. Mobility services, dominated by platforms like Namma Yatri, account for over 50% of the monthly orders. However, categories like Food and Beverages are rapidly expanding both in numbers and their share of transactions.

Key brands and platforms onboarded include Wow Momo, McDonald’s, and Domino’s Pizza in the F&B sector, and Marico, P&G, and Hindustan Unilever Limited in FMCG. Mobility partners include Namma Yatri, Kochi Open Mobility Network, and Ola.

Network participants on ONDC have increased from 24 to 81, while the network itself has grown to cover 13 categories from the initial three. Within the non-mobility sectors, Food and Beverage commanded a share of 9.55% of total orders in March, followed by fashion, groceries, and home and kitchen at 6.74%, 4.47% and 3.91% respectively. Beauty/personal care and electronics contributed to 21.89%.

In January 2023, there were 8,500 sellers on the network. Today, that number has risen to 3.8 lakh, out of which 1.05 lakh of them operate within the non-mobility category.
