The Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), supported by the government, has achieved a significant milestone by processing 12 million orders in July. This achievement reflects a daily peak of about 430,000 orders. Of the total orders, approximately 4.4 million were from the mobility sector, while the remaining 7.6 million were from the non-mobility domain. In the non-mobility category, food and beverages led with 1.7 million transactions, followed by groceries with 1.4 million and fashion with 0.6 million transactions. The remaining 4 million orders were spread across on-network logistics, beauty and personal care, home and kitchen, and retail vouchers.
According to a recent independent study conducted by ONDC network participants, the network has captured an 18% market share in the food and beverages sector within Bengaluru and a 3% share nationally. However, ONDC has not publicly commented on these findings.
Currently, ONDC includes about 630,000 sellers and service providers operating in 600 cities, with delivery capabilities extending to 1,200 cities across the country. Additionally, the network expanded its offerings in July by activating the auto components and accessories category, with Ess Aay Automotive (Hero Genuine) among the first sellers in this new category.
