India to achieve its goal of becoming a developed country by 2047, and if used effectively
The PM GatiShakti national master plan and the National Logistics Policy will enhance the competitiveness of businesses and attract investments to India, according to Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal
He noted that the PM GatiShakti portal contains layers of data that map and capture geological, ecological, and infrastructural elements across India. Currently, the portal holds approximately 1,300 layers of data, including forests, wildlife sanctuaries, rivers, and UNESCO world heritage sites.
GatiShakti will not only address critical gaps in infrastructure, but also assist in planning social infrastructure such as schools, nursing homes, and hospitals. The minister added that reducing logistics costs is essential for India to achieve its goal of becoming a developed country by 2047, and if used effectively, PM GatiShakti could facilitate that, the minister said.
The portal maps all highways, railways, ports, and airports, enabling the creation of seamless connectivity networks and having a positive impact on the logistics ecosystem.
The PM GatiShakti – National Master Plan was launched in 2022 to develop integrated infrastructure and reduce logistics costs. All logistics and connectivity infrastructure projects, costing over INR 500 crore, are routed through the network planning group (NPG).
