EAM Jaishankar highlights strengthened India-Bahrain ties

Economic cooperation, diaspora welfare, and new opportunities in technology and education take centre stage

During his visit, Jaishankar co-chaired the 4th India-Bahrain High Joint Commission, discussing trade, space, education, FinTech, and technology opportunities

The EAM also attended the Manama Dialogue and met with key Bahraini leaders, including Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid and Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani

During his visit to Bahrain, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar underscored the need for sustained engagement to strengthen India-Bahrain relations. Addressing the Indian diaspora in Manama, Jaishankar highlighted key aspects of the partnership, including growing bilateral trade worth USD 1.7 billion, increasing investments, and the welfare of the 3,35,000-strong Indian community in Bahrain.

He attributed the welfare of Indians abroad to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, noting the government’s focus on addressing community concerns globally. Jaishankar praised Bahrain’s receptivity and local support for Indians, describing it as “truly exceptional.”

The EAM’s visit included co-chairing the 4th India-Bahrain High Joint Commission alongside Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. The discussions covered various areas, including healthcare, energy, tourism, security, and technology. New space, education, and FinTech opportunities were also explored, with Jaishankar highlighting their potential for mutual benefit.

Jaishankar also met with Bahrain’s Deputy Prime Minister Shaikh Khalid and Trade Minister during his official engagements, further strengthening diplomatic ties. He attended the Manama Dialogue, which provided an opportunity for regional discussions.
