ISA to hold its fifth assembly from 17-20 October in New Delhi

The International Solar Alliance (ISA) will hold its Fifth Assembly in New Delhi from 17-20 October 2023, according to media reports. 

The ISA’s presidency is currently chaired by India, and the upcoming Assembly will be presided over by R K Singh, Union Minister for Power, New and Renewable Energy. As per the reports, ministers, missions and delegates from 109 Member and Signatory Countries are expected to participate in the meeting.

The Assembly, which is the apex decision-making body of ISA, makes decisions concerning the implementation of the alliance’s framework agreement and coordinated actions to be taken to achieve its objective.

According to Singh, India’s pace of Energy Transition is the fastest in the world, and the ISA will greatly assist countries in fulfilling their pledges on Energy Transition. 

ISA’s Fifth Assembly will hold discussions on three critical issues, including energy access, energy security and energy transition. Through the meeting, the aggregate effect of the programmes and other activities in terms of deployment of solar energy, performance, reliability, cost and scale of finance will be thoroughly assessed. 

This meeting is expected to lead to a greater consensus among countries for the promotion of solar power, leading to an increase in investments for energy transition, and also creating millions of new green jobs.
