India’s cumulative COVID-19 vaccination coverage exceeds 153.80 crore

India crossed the 153.70 crore mark with almost 85 lakh doses being administered in a single day along with 17,61,900 tests that were run during the course of the drive

60,405 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours.

India’s recovery rate stands at 96.01%.

Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 9.82% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 11.05%.

India crossed the 153.70 crore mark during the covid-19 vaccination drive as per the Union Minister of Health Affairs on Tuesday. So far, more than 85 lakh doses have been administered in the last 24 hours.The country had also administered more than 18 lakh ‘precaution doses’ till Tuesday, according to health ministry reports. 

About 60,405 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours and the cumulative tally of recovered patients (since the beginning of the pandemic) is now at 3,46,30,536. Consequently, India’s recovery rate stands at 96.01%.

On 16 January, the country wide vaccination drive began with health care workers (HCWs) being given the first priority along with front line workers who received their shots  by 2nd February, 2021. 

The next phase of the vaccination drive commenced from 1 March 2021 for people over 60 years of age and those aged 45 and above with specific comorbid conditions.

The government then expanded its vaccination drive by allowing everyone above 18 to be vaccinated from 1 May 2021.

Age groups 15-17 have started receiving their vaccination doses from 3rd January, 2021. Along with this, the Health care workers, the Front-line workers and co-morbid people over the age of 60 have started receiving precautionary doses since 10th January, 2021. 

The testing capacity across the country continues to be expanded. The last 24 hours saw a total of 17,61,900 tests being conducted. India has so far conducted over 69.52 crores (69,52,74,380) cumulative tests.

While testing capacity has been enhanced across the country, the Weekly Positivity Rate in the country currently stands at 9.82% and the Daily Positivity rate also reported to be 11.05%.
