Industry leaders have committed new investments totalling INR 2,755 crore to the Indian Biogas Association (IBA) during the recent Renewable Energy India Expo 2023, according to media reports.
During the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo held in Greater Noida from October 4 to 6, the association inked joint ventures (JVs) and Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) and received Letters of Intent (LoIs) for these investments. These pledges are anticipated to materialise over the next three years.
Experts mentioned the significant interest from companies in various countries, including Germany, Sweden, and Italy. The association has signed several MoUs, amounting to more than INR 1,000 crore for JVs, and has garnered interest for an additional 54 LoIs for establishing compressed biogas plants in the country.
The IBA is the nation’s foremost professional association for biogas plant operators, manufacturers, planners, and stakeholders from public policy, science, and research. Founded in 2011 and reinvigorated in 2015, the IBA is dedicated to advancing a more sustainable future through biogas technology.
The IBA collaborates with international organisations like the German Biogas Association to facilitate the growth of the bio-energy sector in India. The Bio-energy pavilion at the expo was supported by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy and garnered participation from critical national and international industry players.
The Renewable Energy India Expo is one of the largest trade exhibitions focusing on renewable energy, including bio-energy, solar, wind, and energy efficiency technologies like electric vehicles and battery storage. The exhibition aims to expedite India’s commitment to achieving net-zero emissions.
