India has achieved the distinction of being the world's fastest 5G rollout country by launching the service in over 125 cities in just 120 days
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated that India should strive to become a major exporter of telecom technology from being an importer, during the unveiling of a vision document for 6G services and its eco-system,
He emphasised that India has the necessary components to bridge the technological divide, such as innovation culture, infrastructure, skilled manpower, a favourable policy environment, trust, and scale.
According to PM Modi, India had six crore broadband users prior to 2014, but the number has surged to over 80 crores at present. Furthermore, India’s internet connections have increased from 25 crores before 2014 to over 85 crores today.
The Prime Minister mentioned that trust and scale are crucial to taking technology to every corner of the country. Modi also discussed India’s rapid progress in rolling out 5G services and how the country is moving towards becoming a significant exporter of telecom technology globally. He highlighted India’s efforts in developing an indigenous 5G stack and collaborating with other countries to develop 6G capability.
India has achieved the distinction of being the world’s fastest 5G rollout country by launching the service in over 125 cities in just 120 days and covering nearly 350 districts. Remarkably, within six months of the 5G rollout, India is already exploring the prospect of 6G technology.
Finally, the Prime Minister launched the Bharat 6G Vision Document and 6G R&D test bed, which was prepared by the Technology Innovation Group on 6G.
