GST revenues at INR 1.41 lakh crore in May: Finance Ministry

The collected amount was a 44% increase compared to the same month, last year

The government has collected INR 1.41 lakh crore for Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue in May FY22, according to a statement from the Ministry of Finance. The collected amount was a 44% increase compared to INR 97,821 crore of the same month, last year.  

This is the fourth time that the monthly GST collection has crossed the INR 1.40 lakh crore mark since its inception, and the third straight month since March 2022, as per the report.

According to the statement, aside from the GST, the revenue collected during May ‘22 for the CGST is INR 25,036 crore, State Goods and Services Tax (SGST) is INR 32,001 crore, Integrated Goods and Services Tax (IGST) is INR 73,345 crore, and cess is INR 10,502 crore. The total number of e-way bills generated in April ‘22 was 7.4 crore.
