The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) under the guidance of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries has been taking initiatives with special focus on northeast India. The chamber has been preparing necessary studies and creating the right industry platform for the agriculture and food processing sector.

Herein, Tripura acts as a gateway between northeast India and Bangladesh. The state shares an 856-km international border with Bangladesh. This offers enormous potential to the agriculture and food processing sector for international trade. In this regard, ASSOCHAM with the active support of MoFPI, Government of India, and the Department of Commerce & Industries, Government of Tripura, is organizing a strategy meeting to boost the growth of food processing export from Tripura and to develop strategies of a significant role for Tripura in the northeast region for International Trade Relations.
