EV sales up by 28.86% in Q4 2022: Report

A total of 357,248 Electric Vehicles were sold in the October-December quarter

Electric vehicle (EV) sales in India increased by 28.86% quarter-over-quarter in Q4 2022 , according to a report from JMK Research.

According to the report, a total of 357,248 EVs were sold in the October-December 

quarter, the majority of which were electric two-wheelers (E2W).

According to the report, the registered E2W sales accounted for 65.13% of total EV sales this quarter, and E3Ws (cargo and passenger combined) accounted for a share of 30.32%. As per the report, over 26,000 charge points were set up by the end of Q4 2022 in India, and nine electric two-wheeler models, six electric three-wheeler models, and five electric cars were launched in the quarter, while.

State-wise, Uttar Pradesh led the sales share at 14.33% this quarter, followed by Maharashtra at 13.78%.

The report also mentioned that globally, the total sales of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) increased by more than 23% this quarter to more than 2.4 million units from 20.1 million units in Q3 2022. The report further added that the rise in sales from Q4 FY22 to Q42 FY23 has increased by more than 56%.
