DPIIT resolves +1,700 trade queries amid COVID-19

A control room set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to address issues facing traders and industries amid the COVID-19 pandemic has received a strong response

The control room has been receiving queries regarding ground difficulties and policy issues being faced by the manufacturers, transporters, e-commerce firms

Out of the total number of 1,962 queries registered by the control room till April 28, 1,739 have been resolved/settled and the rest are currently under resolution

Out of total queries registered, more than 1,000 queries were received from five States and UTs - Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat

On March 24, the Government had announced a nationwide lockdown to tackle COVID-19, while ensuring the supply of essential goods and services to all citizens

A control room set up by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, to address issues facing traders and industries amid the COVID-19 pandemic has received a strong response. Operational since March 26, the platform has been taking up matters with concerned State Government, District and Police Authorities and other relevant agencies to offer speedy resolutions. The Control Room monitors issues of internal trade, manufacturing, delivery and logistics of essential commodities, and difficulties faced by various stakeholders during the lockdown period to resolve any supply chain issues.

Out of the total number of 1,962 queries registered till April 28, 1,739 have been resolved/settled and the rest are currently under resolution. Out of total queries registered, more than 1,000 queries were received from five States/UTs – Delhi, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Gujarat. The queries are being received in the control room over a telephone call and email. The control room has been receiving queries regarding ground level difficulties as well as procedural and policy issues being faced by the manufacturers, transporters, distributors, wholesalers, and e-commerce companies. After registering the queries, the DPIIT control room forwards the same to the State level control rooms and the Chief Secretary of the State with the request to initiate necessary action and ensure that the required relief is provided to the querists at the earliest. Mechanisms have been put in place to ensure that every query is seen through communications with the citizens as well as amid the concerned departments. 

On March 24, the Central Government had announced a nationwide lockdown to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus, while putting in place arrangements for ensuring that supplies of essential goods and services remain available to all citizens.
