Companies are encouraged to adopt innovative approaches, such as D&I labs, councils, and reverse mentorship programs

The BFSI and IT-Software & Services (IT-ITeS) sectors lead in diversity job postings, accounting for 30% and 19% of jobs, respectively

Cities like Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai are at the forefront of diversity hiring, with significant job opportunities for women, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community

India has witnessed a 33% increase in diversity hiring year-on-year, a testament to the growing corporate commitment to diversity and inclusion (D&I) policies. This data, from the latest foundit Insights Tracker (fit) for June 2024 by talent platform foundit, underscores the critical role of D&I policies in shaping India’s workforce. The hiring index climbed from 295 in May to 302 in June 2024, reflecting a 12% increase in overall hiring activity from June 2023 to June 2024, with a slight 2% increase from May 2024.

Experts highlighted that this growth results from the increasing adoption of D&I policies. Looking forward, there is an expectation for a deeper focus on inclusion through initiatives like mentorship and leadership programs for underrepresented groups, bias training, and innovative approaches such as D&I labs or councils.

Industries such as BFSI and IT-Software & Services lead the way in diversity job postings, with significant contributions from Healthcare, Internet/E-commerce, and Education. Metropolitan areas like Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai are leading hubs for diversity hiring, focusing on roles for women, persons with disabilities, and the LGBTQIA+ community.
