Defence ministry approves capital procurement proposals worth INR 4,276 cr

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for three capital acquisition proposals

The procurement includes Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, launchers and associated support equipment for helicopters

The missiles are expected to strengthen the offensive capability of the Indian Army

The DAC further granted approval for the procurement of the Brahmos Launcher and Fire Control System (FCS) for the Shivalik class of ships

The Defence Ministry has recently approved capital procurement proposals amounting to INR 4,276 crore, according to a government report. 

The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has recently approved the procurement proposals. According to the report, the DAC accorded Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for three capital acquisition proposals, of which two are for the army and one for the Navy. 

According to the report, the procurement includes Anti-Tank Guided Missiles, launchers and associated support equipment which will be integrated into the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH). The missiles are expected to strengthen the offensive capability of the Indian Army.

Additionally, the report said that the procurement of Very Short Range Air Defence (VSHORAD) will strengthen the country’s air defence capabilities, as it is a robust and quickly deployable system. 

The DAC further granted approval for the procurement of the Brahmos Launcher and Fire Control System (FCS) for the Shivalik class of ships and next-generation missile vessels (NGMVs) for the Indian Navy.

On the other hand, India is also ramping up its defence manufacturing capabilities to turn into a major exporter of defence equipment in the coming years.
