The ever-changing business landscape has made companies worldwide realize the importance of maintaining an equilibrium between growth and sustainability. As the world unites to address the pressing challenges of climate change, social inequality, and economic disparities, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have emerged as a global framework for driving progress. India stands at the forefront of the net zero revolution, embracing sustainable growth as its guiding star. India is the third largest producer of renewables, with 42% of power from clean sources. India’s remarkable economic growth, rising from the 13th to the fifth largest economy globally, has set ambitious goals for sustainable development. The aim is to explore crucial sustainability issues pertinent to India’s environment, focusing on bridging immediate gaps to expedite the adoption of green infrastructure and foster a sustainable future.

With the climate crisis, there is a current movement towards sustainability as a more appealing priority for businesses as people begin to live more sustainable lives. It is likely that, in the future, businesses will expect a positive impact on climate over the whole value chain, an improved impact on the environment, people, and atmosphere, and productive input on society. Companies will be held accountable for all aspects of the industry, and any environmental damage or harmful emissions should be limited or removed from productive processes. ESG principles are increasingly vital for MSMEs navigating a competitive and sustainability-focused market. Integrating ESG practices can enhance operational efficiency, funding access, and brand reputation while contributing positively to society and the environment. For MSMEs, ESG implementation involves adopting eco-friendly practices, ensuring social responsibility in their labour policies, and maintaining transparent and ethical governance structures. This holistic approach aligns with global sustainability goals and drives long-term resilience and profitability, positioning MSMEs as responsible and forward-thinking players in their industries.

Against this backdrop, CII is organizing the CII Jharkhand Green Conclave on 28 August at The Alcor, Jamshedpur, with a focus on Creating a Future-Ready Green System using the 7R Tools. The forum will gather eminent leaders in the field, emphasizing promoting resource efficiency and fortifying Indian industries against climate challenges.
