BIMSTEC India Week, a three day B2B exhibition organised by Ministry of Commerce & Industry and ASSOCHAM India. More than 200 Indian Companies across India will showcase their innovations and current developments in Agri, Agricultural machinery and Technology sectors while more than 100 overseas buyers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand and Sri Lanka and several foreign visitors will participate.

The main attraction of the event is the Reverse Buyer Seller Meet which will be Showcasing Innovations in Agriculture and allied technologies sector of India. The event will have the ‘India-BIMSTEC Partnership Forum’, a conference focusing on promotion of investment between India and BIMSTEC especially through cooperation in the agriculture sector in its gamut.

Encompassing seven member States – five stemming from South Asia (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka) and two from South-East Asia (Myanmar and Thailand) lying in the largest bay in the world – the Bay of Bengal, BIMSTEC demonstrates regional unity as well as contiguity.

India’s trade with the BIMSTEC countries has grown at an annual growth rate of 10.4 percent as compared to intra-BIMSTEC trade growing at 0.62 percent. Total agriculture products and agricultural equipments exports from India to BIMSTEC countries is US$2.3 Billion currently.

Agriculture is the dominant sector of Indian economy, which determines the growth and sustainability. About 58% of the population still relies on agriculture for employment and livelihood. India is a natural agriculture producing country where cheap labor is massively available and with the help of new equipment and latest technology the growing global demand for agriculture products and equipments can be tapped to make the BIMSTEC region a big producer and exporter of such high-quality products.

The RBSM event, with 100 buyers from BIMSTEC countries, 200 Indian Exhibitors and several trade visitors expected, will be an excellent forum for meeting buyers who plan to source products and equipments from India. Apart from the Industry visitors the event will have a presence of decision makers from the Governments of BIMSTEC member countries including India who cater to Agriculture & allied sectors. Similarly the INDIA-BIMSTEC Partnership Forum focuses on bringing together all the Stakeholders who contribute towards the India-BIMSTEC Investment and Trade Relations on a single platform.
