Technology companies are setting up shops in India and the latest to join the bandwagon is Apple Inc. The tech giant synonymous with the iPhone is reportedly restructuring its international management to focus more on India’s business activities, one of its essential global markets. 

India is an attractive market for tech giants for a variety of reasons, including a growing population of tech-savvy consumers, a large pool of highly skilled tech workers and favourable government policies.

Media reports said that India is not only a vital sales engine for Apple but is also becoming increasingly important for the company’s product development. With key suppliers relocating to the region, Apple is collaborating with Hon Hai Precision Industry Co. to establish new iPhone production facilities in the country.

Despite a 5% decline in total sales, Apple reported record revenue in India last quarter. Apple has established an online store to better serve the region and plans to open its first retail outlets in the country in 2023. 

During the last earnings call, CEO Tim Cook emphasized the importance of the Indian market, drawing comparisons to the company’s early years in China.
