Apple Inc. achieved its highest-ever quarterly smartphone shipments in India, delivering 4.9 million iPhones during the July–September quarter of 2025, according to data from research firm Omdia. The milestone represents a 47% increase compared with the same period last year, marking Apple’s strongest performance in the Indian market to date. The surge was attributed to robust festive season demand and the launch of the iPhone 17 series on 9 September.
India now contributes 9% of Apple’s global iPhone shipments, the largest share in the company’s history, underscoring the country’s rising importance in its global growth strategy. The newly launched iPhone 17 series played a pivotal role in driving sales, featuring major camera upgrades such as a 48MP Fusion Main camera and a 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide lens, along with a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display and the latest A19 chip offering enhanced performance and durability through Ceramic Shield 2.
Industry experts forecast that Apple is set for its strongest festive quarter in India, with sales expected to grow by 28% year-on-year. This growth is being propelled by high consumer enthusiasm for the iPhone 17 range and competitive festive promotions across retail and online channels.
Apple’s success in India also coincides with record iPhone exports from the country, which reached approximately $10 billion (₹88,500 crore) between April and September 2025, a 75% jump from the same period last year. Nearly 78% of the iPhones assembled in India were exported to the United States, indicating Apple’s deepening reliance on India within its global supply chain.
This performance underscores the positive impact of the Indian government’s Make in India initiative and the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, which have encouraged Apple’s manufacturing partners to scale up production facilities in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
As India continues to emerge as one of Apple’s fastest-growing markets, analysts believe the company’s next growth phase will be anchored by expanded local manufacturing, improved affordability, and a rising aspirational consumer base eager to adopt premium technology.
