A recent survey conducted by Indeed revealed that employees and employers are increasingly interested in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the workplace. The survey included 6,531 participants, consisting of 1,223 employers and 5,308 employees. Interestingly, 59% of employees expressed confidence in adapting to and effectively using AI tools.

The survey suggests that diversity and inclusion will be important focal points in the future of workplaces. Specifically, 47% of employers anticipate a surge in adopting policies promoting diversity and inclusion. The survey also highlights a keen interest in meeting the expectations of Generation Z employees, with a particular emphasis on the integration of AI.

Despite employees’ confidence in adapting to AI, only 19% of surveyed employers have initiated or are implementing next-generation technologies, such as Generative AI, within the upcoming year. Sashi Kumar, Head of Sales at Indeed India, emphasised the importance of adaptability and upskilling in the tech industry. He also noted the rising demand for generative AI, programming languages, and cybersecurity skills.

Regarding specific skills, the survey indicates that employees mainly focus on acquiring Generative AI skills (27%) and programming languages (22%). Conversely, employers prioritise hiring individuals with expertise in cybersecurity (37%) and data science and analytics (29%).

Employers are also shaping workplace strategies tailored to the preferences of Generation Z. These strategies include flexible work arrangements, purpose-driven work environments, and technology-driven settings.

The top three strategies earmarked by employers include open communication channels (40%), diverse leadership representation (20%), and anti-discrimination reporting (17%). This proactive approach reflects a concerted effort to foster inclusive and dynamic workplaces in the evolving landscape of AI integration.
