Documents Required

The documents should be uploaded in digital format-jpeg, size not exceeding 5MB, and must be legible.

 

  • Digital Photograph (3x3cms) of the Proprietor
  • Copy of Pan Card
  • Copy of Passport/Voter ID/Driving License/UID
  • Sale Deed in case Business Premise is self-owned or rental/lease agreement or latest electricity/telephone bill
  • Bank Certificate as per ANF 2A(I)/Cancelled cheque bearing pre-printed name of the applicant

 

 

  • Digital photograph of Managing Partner
  • Copy of PAN card of applicant entity 
  • Copy of passport/voter ID/UID of Managing Partner signing the application (PAN card also allowed)
  • Sale Deed in case Business premise is self-owned or rental/leased agreement or latest electricity/telephone bill
  • Bank Certificate as per ANF 2A(I)/cancelled cheque bearing pre-printed name of applicant (entity and account number)
  • Other documents (Partnership deed)
  • Digital Photograph of Designated Partner/Director
  • Copy of PAN card of the applicant entity
  • Copy of passport/Voter ID/UID of Managing Partner/Director signing the application
  • Sale Deed in case Business premise is self-owned or rental/leased, or latest electricity/telephone bill
  • Bank Certificate
  • Other Documents (Certificate of Incorporation issued by RoC)

IEC or Importer Exporter Code is a unique 10 digit code issued by the DGFT – Director General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to Indian companies and individuals, enabling them to engage in international trade.

To import or export in India, IEC Code is mandatory. No person or entity shall make any Import or Export without IEC Code Number unless specifically exempted.

An individual or a company that wants to do international business can get an IEC. Individuals can use either the name of their company or their name directly to apply for IEC.

Filing of application along with requisite documents “online” is mandatory.

Yes. The application form would require you to fill various details. For example, in the case of a Partnership firm, you would be required to fill details of each Partner like their PAN, Residential Address. Similarly, in the case of LLP/Private Limited, you would be required to fill for each Director, their PAN and DIN number.

Application has to be signed by Proprietor/Managing Partner/designated Partners/Director/Secretary or Chief Executive of the Society/Managing Trustee/Karta as the case may be.

IEC registration fee is worth Rs.250 and can be paid via EFT (Electronic Fund Transfer) in favor of the concerned Regional Office of DGFT. The applicant should have a Net banking account with one of the designated banks: HDFC, ICICI, Bank of India, SBI, Central Bank of India, PNB, Axis Bank, Union Bank of India and Oriental Bank of Commerce.

When an e-IEC is approved by the competent authority, the applicant is informed through e-mail that a computer-generated e-IEC is available on the DGFT website by clicking on “Application Status” after having filled and submitted the requisite details in “Online IEC Application” webpage, the applicant can view and print his e-IEC.

In case the application is incomplete or otherwise ineligible, the same shall be rejected and a Rejection letter/email (with reasons for rejection) would be sent to the applicant.
