Infosys, one of India’s largest IT services firm, to set up a new design and innovation hub at Providence in the US state of Rhode Island and hire 500 new American jobs
The new hub comes as part of Infosys’ broader plan to hire 10,000 American workers over the next two years to provide improved technologies and services across the US
As part of the expansion, the Indian company is investing in technology and innovation hubs at Indianapolis in the state of Indiana and at Raleigh in the state of North Carolina

Infosys Ltd, one of India’s leading information technology and consulting services firms, on November 27th announced plans to set up a new design and innovation hub at Providence in the US state of Rhode Island.In relation to this, the company has entered into a multi-year partnership, which will lead to 500 new American jobs in Rhode Island over the next five years. Commenting on the move, Ravi Kumar, Infosys’ president, said that the new hub will enhance the company’s ability to provide design-driven, digital technologies across the US. The move was cheered by Rhode Island’s Governor, Gina Raimondo.
The new hub comes as part of Infosys’ broader plan to hire 10,000 American workers over the next two years. In line with this, Infosys is investing in technology and innovation hubs at Indianapolis in the state of Indiana and at Raleigh in the state of North Carolina. The new Rhode Island jobs will include designers, design architects, specialists in information design and technical experts with average annual salary of around US$79,000. It already has around 300-400 staff in Rhode Island. Bengaluru-based Infosys employs around 200,000 people globally, with more than 85% of the workforce based in India.
India’s Information Technology and Business Process Management (IT-BPM) industry (excluding hardware) reported revenue of around US$154 billion in fiscal year 2016-17, including export revenue of US$117 billion.The sector’s contribution to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) stood at about 7.7 per cent in 2016. Meanwhile, the global sourcing market in India continues to grow at a higher pace compared with the IT-BPM industry. India’s emergence as the world’s top sourcing destination has led to Indian IT & ITeS companies setting up over 1,000 delivery centres in over 200 cities around the world.
