The share of AI-linked listings also rose from 10.6% in June 2025, reflecting a steady quarterly increase

The data was released by global hiring platform Indeed, based on real-time job postings across India’s formal economy

India ranks second only to Singapore in terms of the share of job postings referencing artificial intelligence

AI-related roles are most concentrated in the technology sector, but are now spreading across other industries

As demand for artificial intelligence (AI) skills continues to rise across India, a new report shows that job postings mentioning AI have climbed to 11.7% this September, compared with 8.2% during the same month last year.

According to global hiring platform Indeed, 11.7% of Indian job postings explicitly referenced AI in their job descriptions in September 2025. This marks an increase from 10.6% three months ago and reflects the country’s rapid adoption of AI-driven roles.

Callam Pickering, Senior Economist for the Asia-Pacific region at Indeed, noted that India remains one of the strongest markets globally for AI hiring. He observed that only Singapore records a higher share of job listings referencing artificial intelligence, underscoring the extent to which Indian employers are embracing AI integration across business functions.

The findings are drawn from Indeed’s job posting data, which captures real-time hiring activity within India’s formal economy. The report compared job trends as of September 2025 with both the previous quarter and the same period last year.

Although AI-related opportunities remain most prevalent within the technology sector, the report emphasised that their presence is steadily expanding across other industries, signalling the growing ubiquity of AI skills in India’s evolving job market.
