Apple's move is aligned with its strategy to enhance supply chain resilience and contribute to the 'Make in India' initiative

Manufacturing iPhones locally since 2017, Apple will now produce the iPhone 16 lineup in India for both local and international markets

This retail and manufacturing push highlights Apple's commitment to tapping into India's growing premium smartphone market

Apple is set to strengthen its presence in India by launching four new retail stores and debuting its first ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models. The tech giant, which already has two stores in Delhi and Mumbai, plans to open new outlets in Pune, Bengaluru, Delhi-NCR, and Mumbai next year.

Apple’s Senior Vice President of Retail emphasised the company’s excitement about the upcoming expansion, noting that Indian customers’ creativity and passion continue to inspire them. Apple sees the new stores as an opportunity for customers to engage with its products and services while also interacting with the knowledgeable teams on-site.

In addition to expanding its retail footprint, Apple will soon begin selling locally manufactured iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models in India. The company has been producing iPhones in India since 2017, and the iPhone 16 series will be available for domestic and export markets.

This development reflects Apple’s strategic focus on bolstering its supply chain resilience and further integrating with India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative. With India being one of the world’s largest smartphone markets, the company aims to meet the growing demand for premium smartphones. Sources indicate that the ‘Made in India’ iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models will be available later this month.
