Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman oversaw final preparations for the upcoming budget presentation at North Block
This will be the first full budget of the coalition government's third term, promising significant economic measures
The budget is set to outline priorities for the Narendra Modi government's third five-year term and beyond, up to India's centenary in 2047
Infrastructure, manufacturing, fiscal discipline, job creation, and social welfare are expected to be key focus areas
As the Budget presentation date inches closer, the final stage of the preparation process took place in North Block on Tuesday, attended by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
The previous budget, presented by the Finance Minister in February, was a vote on account of the Lok Sabha elections scheduled for April and May. This upcoming budget marks the first full budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s coalition government in its third term.
Anticipation is high following President Droupadi Murmu’s statement that the budget will be notable for its historic steps. According to ET, the Centre is expected to focus on employment while maintaining macroeconomic stability. The budget aims to set priorities for the Modi government’s third five-year term and provide a roadmap extending to 2047, the centenary of India’s independence.
In her interim budget speech, Sitharaman mentioned that the full budget in July would present a detailed plan for achieving ‘Viksit Bharat’. The budget is anticipated to emphasise infrastructure, manufacturing, fiscal discipline, job creation, and social welfare.
The Finance Minister will present the Budget on July 23 at 11 am.
