Bengaluru maintains its leading position as the top tier-1 city for hiring across various industries and experience levels, according to the Randstad Talent Insights Report 2023.
Based on a survey covering the construction and infrastructure, telecom, retail, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), fast-moving consumer durables (FMCD), and energy and utilities sectors, the report highlights Bengaluru’s dominance in multiple categories. In the energy and utilities sector, Bengaluru accounted for 29.35% of demand in junior-level hiring, 38.16% in middle-level hiring, and 35.87% in senior-level hiring. In construction and infrastructure, the city claimed 23.45%, 31.42%, and 34.62% of jobs across junior, middle, and senior levels, respectively. Similarly, in telecom and retail/FMCG/FMCD, Bengaluru exhibited significant percentages in various job levels.
Delhi-NCR secured a place in the top three talent hotspots among tier-1 cities in the construction and infrastructure, telecom, and retail/FMCG/FMCD sectors. It also featured in the top five at all levels in the energy and utility industry.
Experts anticipate a strong rectification in hiring intent across sectors driven by organisations looking to restructure and strengthen their workforce. They note that government initiatives will amplify this transformation, creating new job roles in critical sectors.
As spending power increases in tier-2 and tier-3 markets, job creation in these regions is rising to meet growing demand. Vadodara emerged as a strong hiring hub for construction, infrastructure, energy and utilities among tier-2 cities. Jaipur, Thane, and Coimbatore were identified as talent hotspots across all four industries and experience levels.
The report reveals specific city-wise trends, such as Thane’s leadership in junior-level hiring in construction and infrastructure and Coimbatore’s top rank in junior-level hiring in telecom. Jaipur, Thane, and Coimbatore also showcased strong demand across different levels in various industries.
Overall, the hiring demand for freshers and junior-level professionals remained high across all four sectors. The report analysed trends in eight tier-1 cities, 20 tier-2 cities, and more than 100,000 jobs of varying experience levels.
