To attract talent, employers are offering increased work flexibility, raising wages, and adopting innovative recruitment strategies
Corporate India exhibits robust hiring sentiment for the next three months, standing out globally with 37% of employers intending to expand their workforce amidst a thriving domestic demand environment, according to a survey by the ManpowerGroup
The survey, encompassing nearly 3,100 employers across various sectors and regions, positions India’s Net Employment Outlook (NEO) as the highest among 41 countries. The outlook for January-March 2024 registers at 37%, marking a 5% increase from the same period in 2023 and maintaining parity with the last quarter.
Experts attribute this positive outlook to buoyant domestic demand, sustained private investments, and the overall economic attractiveness of a stable political landscape in India.
The survey highlights India and the Netherlands leading the pack with the strongest net employment outlooks at 37%, followed by Costa Rica and the US at 35%, and Mexico securing the third position with a 34% net employment outlook. The global average stands at 26%.
Employers globally report challenges in filling open roles, with Japan topping the list as 85% of employers face difficulty finding skilled talent, followed closely by Germany, Greece, and Israel (82%). In India, 81% of employers report difficulty finding skilled talent, a 1% increase from the 2023 survey, with the Transport, Logistics, and Automotive sectors being the most affected, closely followed by the Information Technology sector.
Experts mentioned that to attract talent, employers are offering increased work flexibility, raising wages, and adopting innovative recruitment strategies.
The survey identifies the top five most in-demand skills as IT & Data, Sales & Marketing, Engineering, Operations & Logistics, and HR. As organisations plan their strategic HR objectives for 2024, priorities include employee well-being, recruitment for skilled roles, and the adoption of AI and technology. Training staff to leverage AI and identifying roles that can capitalize on technological advancements remain ongoing concerns.
