Apple to manufacture AirPods in Hyderabad by December ‘24

This year, Xiaomi commenced TWS production in India through the Optiemus Electronics plant located in Noida

Apple, the creator of the iPhone, is set to initiate the production of its wireless earbuds, AirPods, at Foxconn’s facility in Hyderabad, as per insider sources. Foxconn has allocated a substantial investment of US$ 400 million for the Hyderabad plant, anticipating the commencement of large-scale manufacturing by December 2024.

Following the iPhone, AirPods will become the second product category to be manufactured in India. 

Globally, Apple’s AirPods lead the True Wireless Stereo (TWS) market, commanding a significant share. Research firm Canalys reported that in the fourth quarter of 2022, Apple captured approximately 36% of the global TWS market, outpacing competitors.

Samsung trailed behind with a 7.5% market share, while Xiaomi and Boat held 4.4% and 4% shares, respectively. Oppo secured a 3% share.

This year, Xiaomi commenced TWS production in India through the Optiemus Electronics plant in Noida.
