Officials expressed optimism about substantial outcomes in semiconductor supply chain collaboration between India and the US
Both countries have a long-term vision of integrating defence supply chains and promoting co-production and technology transfer
The US is also working with other countries on infra projects spanning green hydrogen, renewable electricity, and fiber networks
The Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) initiative promotes closer cooperation between private industry and scientific institutions across multiple domains
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan expressed optimism about substantial outcomes in semiconductor supply chain collaboration between India and the US while the latter is gearing up for Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit.
Apart from this, the US aims to align approaches with India in artificial intelligence, machine learning, advanced wireless technology, 5G, and Open Radio Access Networks.
Sullivan also spoke about the infrastructure project connecting West Asian railway networks to Indian ports. This initiative involves the joint efforts of the US, India, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). During his visit to New Delhi, Sullivan and his Indian counterpart Ajit Doval reviewed progress in the Critical and Emerging Technologies (iCET) initiative, which promotes closer cooperation between private industry and scientific institutions in areas such as AI, quantum computing, advanced materials, defense, semiconductors, next-generation telecommunications, biotech, and space.
Additionally, Sullivan emphasized the long-term vision of integrating defence supply chains and promoting co-production and technology transfer between the two countries. US President Joe Biden has instructed all branches of the US government to address barriers hindering deeper defence trade and technology cooperation, emphasizing the country’s commitment to meeting India’s requirements in crucial areas like maritime domain awareness.
Sullivan also discussed infrastructure projects to increase economic connectivity from Europe to Southeast Asia, involving India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, and potentially other partners. These projects cover green hydrogen, renewable electricity, and fiber networks, with the US eager to support and facilitate these initiatives.
