India, New Zealand identify multiple areas of cooperation

The areas include the United Payments Interface system, technological collaboration, and cooperation in work visa and banking, among others

The discussions took place during the first Round Table Joint meeting between India and New Zealand held last week

Both countries reached a common understanding that there is a need to work beyond any free trade agreement and explore other areas

Other identified areas of collaboration include package proposal on Kiwi fruits, trans-shipment hub, and cooperation in work visa and banking

Both sides are expected Government to government (G2G), Business to Business (B2B) and Government to Business (G2B) interactions

India and New Zealand have identified the facilitation of the UPI system, carbon credit, package proposal on Kiwi fruits, trans-shipment hub, technological collaboration, and cooperation in work visa and banking, as tentative areas of cooperation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce.

The discussions were brought up during the first Round Table Joint meeting between India and New Zealand, held last week. According to the statement, both countries reached a common understanding that there is a need to work beyond any free trade agreement and explore other areas where both can complement each other. 

Experts mentioned that both sides would require a concerted effort to take into account deliberations at G2G, B2B, and G2B interactions. They have also emphasised increasing the air connectivity links between the two countries.
