The government has extended the deadline to submit applications for its design-linked manufacturing scheme for telecom and networking products to August 25 from its previous deadline of August 5.
According to an official statement, the extension was arranged after some interested companies made requests for the same.
On June 21, the registration process for the applicants for design-led manufacturing under the Production Linked Incentive Scheme for Telecom and Networking Products had begun.
The design-led manufacturing, with an outlay of INR 4000 crores, was added as an amendment to the PLI scheme for telecom and networking products with effect from April 1 to develop a robust 5G ecosystem in India.
Under the PLI scheme, the plan offers successful applicants an additional incentive of 1% for incremental production. The government had also mentioned that applicants from design-led manufacturers will be prioritised over other manufacturers while shortlisting.
The PLI scheme for telecom and networking products was announced on February 24, this year, with an allocation of INR 12,195 crore over a period of five years. As a part of the plan, 31 global companies and eight domestic companies have been approved. Over the next five years, the companies have pledged to undertake an incremental production worth INR 1.82 trillion.
