The health ministry clarified the process for those going in for the second dose of the vaccine
The same identity proof will not allowed to be used across two different mobile numbers
If the recipient is using a separate mobile number for the second dose and schedules a vaccination, it will automatically be recognised as a first dose
The ministry clarified that it would not be fair to expect the system to recognise two first dose certificates of a beneficiary registered with two different mobile numbers and photo ID proofs
The Health Ministry stated that Cowin has enabled the administration of over 190 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccination for over 100 crore residents in India that are registered on the platform. The portal has also proven to be India’s digital backbone for the vaccination drive against the pandemic carried out by the government.
The health ministry clarified the process for those going in for the second dose of the vaccine. The recipient should book an appointment for the same vaccine along with the same mobile number they had signed up with at the time of the first dose of vaccination.
In case a beneficiary uses a separate mobile number for the second dose and schedules a vaccination, it will automatically be recognised as a first dose for the beneficiary. Also, the same identity proof is not allowed to be used across two different mobile numbers, said the ministry.
If an individual has submitted two identity proofs with under the same mobile number, there is a different process involved. Given that the name, age and gender match the photo ID proofs submitted, Cowin enables an option for the beneficiary to merge the first two dose certificates to generate a single certificate for both the doses.
The ministry further clarified that it would not be fair to expect the system to recognise two first dose certificates of a beneficiary registered with two different mobile numbers and photo ID proofs.
