The government plans to create 50 India-specific technologies for material, machine, process, and software to make India a 3D-printed manufacturing hub
This will establish nearly 100 new start-ups, ten existing and new manufacturing sectors, and one-lakh new skilled manpower
AM can revolutionize India’s manufacturing landscape through digital processes, communication, imaging, architecture, and engineer
The strategy is expected to catalyze innovation and the R&D ecosystem, and encourage public-private partnership
The government released the National Strategy on Additive Manufacturing (AM) that will cater to next-generation digital manufacturing, mitigate urgent disabilities of local industries, and add US$ 2-3 billion to the GDP by 2025.
Under the strategy, the government plans to create 50 India-specific technologies for material, machine, process, and software to make India a 3D-printed design and manufacturing hub. As per the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), this will create an ecosystem aiding the setting up of nearly 100 new start-ups, 10 existing and new manufacturing sectors, and one-lakh new skilled manpower. It will also lead to the development of 500 AM products and 50 Indian AM technologies on material, machine, process, and software. In addition, awareness for the adoption of AM products to facilitate this growth will also be created.
AM can revolutionize India’s manufacturing and industrial production landscape through digital processes, communication, imaging, architecture, and engineering. It is expected that the release of the strategy will catalyze innovation and the R&D ecosystem and encourage public-private partnership to transform the existing research knowledge base in this field.
