The Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is at the forefront of this initiative and is striving hard to bring end-to-end approvals for various programmes on the National Single Window System (NSWS).
Currently, 20 ministries and government departments and 13 states are linked to the NSWS.
As of yet, 143 central approvals have been granted on the NSWS, while 489 approvals are pending.
The portal is currently going through a testing phase and needs more development to on board various entities.
The government e-portal, National Single Window System (NSWS) is witnessing a considerable increase in the number of Investors, five months after its launch. Investors are using the platform to get endorsements for their ventures and small-scale businesses. The government granted a first clearance to the platform on January 18. Since then, it has made good progress and currently there are 1,258 registered investors on the portal, out of which 378 signed up in the last one week, as stated by a senior government official.
NSWS is built to help investors identify, apply and get business approvals best suited to their requirements. Usually, an investment proposal requires a series of mandates and sanctions from the official departments. To ease things up, NSWS helps eliminate the hassle of visiting multiple government officials for applications and other mandates. It helps ease up the approvals process for prospective investors.
The approvals that are currently in progress are from the Ministry of Corporate affairs and the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, food and public distribution with 33 and 295 approval requests respectively.
The product is currently going through a testing phase and needs more development to on board various entities.
DPIIT has also been arranging meetings with industry associations in order to urge them to encourage investors and business people to make full use of the portal. As of yet, 143 central approvals have been granted on the NSWS, while 489 approvals are pending.
