Democracy is not just a system for India but it is ingrained in our nature and part of life in India, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the inaugural session of the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference in Shimla via video conferencing. The Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, and the Deputy Chairman of the Rajya Sabha were also present at the occasion.

The PM stated that democracy is not just a system in India, but it is the country’s nature and natural tendency. He also maintained that the states will play a key part as the country strives to reach new heights in the coming years. PM Modi stated that it is only through “Sabka Prayas” or everyone’s efforts that problems in the Northeast or completion of developmental projects that have been stalled for decades have been completed in the past few years. He also brought up the achievement of administering over one billion COVID-19 vaccine doses.

PM Modi also proposed the One Nation One Legislative Platform idea, which is a portal that will connect all the democratic units of the country and give a much-needed technological boost to the parliamentary system.

The two-day conference will be attended by 378 dignitaries, including 288 presiding officers of 36 state assemblies.
