22nd National Conference on e-Governance

The 22nd National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2019 was organised in Shillong, Meghalaya.

The objective of the e-Gov conference was to discuss a digital platform to improve the service rendered to Indian citizens and provide end-to-end citizen-centric service delivery

It was organised by the Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology and Meghalaya Government

The conference was attended by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Union Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh

This high-level discussion at the event was one of the many initiatives taken up by the central government to promote digitization in the country and improve governance

The 22nd National Conference on e-Governance (NCeG) 2019 was organised on 8th and 9th of August in Shillong, Meghalaya. It was organised by The Department of Administrative Reforms & Public Grievances (DARPG), in association with the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India and the State Government of Meghalaya. The Objective of the e-Gov conference was to discuss and conceptualize a digital platform to improve the service rendered to Indian citizens and provide end-to-end citizen-centric service delivery. 

The conference was inaugurated by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma in the presence of Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, Jitendra Singh at the State Convention Centre, Shillong. This was the very first time that the conference was conducted in Shillong. This was also a good opportunity for civil servants and industry captains of the region to showcase their successful interventions in e-Governance to improve end-to-end service delivery for their state.

In the last five years, the Union Government has made significant progress in the direction of achieving e-Governance mandate being discussed at the highest level. For making digital literacy universal, the Government has taken key initiatives like Aadhaar and Jan-Dhan Yojana and has laid down the target completion by 2022. Digital India is considered to be one of the most impactful initiatives of the government. 

India is equipped to handle the upcoming decade of technological advancement and transformation.  There is however diversity in the country with socio-economic differences due to which there is a technological gap that exists in India which the government is actively trying to bridge.
