India signs several agreements on space sciences

The Indian Government has signed separate agreements with Morocco, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Algeria on cooperation in the field of Space Sciences, Technologies and Applications

India and Morocco will pursue cooperation in space science, technology and applications including remote sensing of the earth, satellite communication and satellite based navigation

The agreement with Uzbekistan will explore new research activities and application possibilities in the field of satellite communication, space science and exploration of outer space

The deal with Tajikistan will employ a joint working group with members from India’s DOS and ISRO and the State Committee of Land Management and Geodesy of Republic of Tajikistan

The agreement between India and Algeria will focus on cooperation in space technologies and applications including planetary exploration, as well as gse of spacecraft and ground system

Government of India has approved a number of agreements with foreign governments to drive innovation and build capacity in the field of space sciences and technology, as per an official statement on December 6. The Indian Government has signed separate agreements with Morocco, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Algeria on cooperation in the field of Space Sciences, Technologies and Applications.

The agreement between India and Morocco will enable cooperation in space science, technology and applications including remote sensing of earth, satellite communication and satellite based navigation, planetary exploration, use of spacecraft and space systems and ground system. The deal will also set up a joint working group, drawing members from India’s Department of Space and the  Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and from Morocco’s Royal Centre for Remote Sensing (CRTS) and the Royal Centre for Space Research and Studies (CRERS).

The agreement with Uzbekistan will target cooperation in the exploration and usages of Outer Space for peaceful purposes. This will strengthen cooperation between India and Uzbekistan and provide impetus to explore newer research activities and application possibilities in the field of remote sensing of the earth, satellite communication, satellite navigation, space science and exploration of outer space. It will also set up a joint working group, which will work out the plan of action including the time-frame and the means of implementing the agreement.

The agreement between India and Tajkistan will focus on peaceful uses of outer space technology. This deal will pursue cooperation in remote sensing of the earth, satellite communication and satellite based navigation, space science and planetary exploration, use of spacecraft and space systems and ground system, and application of space technology. The agreement will include a joint working group, drawing members from India’s Department of Space and the ISRO and the State Committee of Land Management and Geodesy of Republic of Tajikistan.

The agreement between India and Algeria will focus on cooperation in space sciences, technologies and applications. The deal will pursue space science, technology and applications including remote sensing of the earth, satellite based navigation, space science and planetary exploration, and gse of spacecraft and space systems and ground system. This will include a joint working group, drawing members from India’s Department of Space and the ISRO, and the Algerian Space Agency (ASAL). India and Algeria have also been pursuing commercial space interactions.
