The introduction of 5G mobile broadband in India will increase mobile data revenue by 67%, and also drive growth for data usage by 29% between FY20 and FY26, according to a report from Globaldata, a data and analytics firm.

The report estimates that 5G services will see penetration of 27% to 329 million users, by FY26.

According to the report, the government expects to see the coverage of 5G networks in at least 20 towns and cities by the end of this year.

Although the consumer acceptance of 5G is being discussed in light of rising smartphone and data prices, mobile internet users will continue utilising the 4G network, especially in rural areas.
