India’s developmental narrative has seen multifaceted opportunities and challenges – from uplifting the poor and increasing connectivity between rural and urban India to comprehensive human development, eliminating gender biases, and increasing employment and health security along with the rise in environmental consciousness.

However, achieving DE&I in India comes with its unique challenges and opportunities, shaped by historical legacies, cultural norms, and socioeconomic disparities. These pervasive challenges in India manifested in disparities in education, employment, healthcare, and representation. Discrimination and violence persist despite legislative reforms and social movements advocating for justice.

As India progresses, it is expected to become the third-largest economy in the world, with a GDP of $5 trillion in the next three years and a touch of $7 trillion by 2030. Empowerment and collective engagement are central to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) and building more just, equitable, and inclusive societies.

Spinning together stories of empowerment and collective engagement toward a shared vision of national development, FICCI Task Force on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion is organising the Annual DE&I Conclave with the theme – DE&I – Empowerment and Collective Engagement for VikshitBharat@47 and is scheduled for June 12 2024, in The Lalit, Mumbai.

The conclave shall bring together corporations, CHROs, policymakers, civil society organisations, academia, and allied stakeholders to one platform to discuss pathways for ViksitBharat@47 in the context of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
