The Design Summit, organized by CII in collaboration with Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion (DIPP), National Institute of Design and India Design Council, brings together Indian and international design educators, practitioners and design users. The theme of the summit this year is Design for Social Sector.
India Design Summit would focus on social sector to deep dive in the sector-specific aspects and applications of design. Social sector in India includes several important components such as education, health, and medical care, water supply and sanitation, poverty alleviation, housing conditions etc. that play a vital contribution to human development. Investments in the social sector have been the measure of the value system of an economy which fosters philanthropy, social safety net, social business, social entrepreneurship etc. Due to the rapidly globalizing competitive marketplace coupled with an increasing need to enhance the quality of life at the grassroots level, the policy makers in India are slowly but surely setting the social sector on the reform track.
The summit will address the need of focusing on augmenting design strategies to cater to the problems of social sector to create better quality of life. The initiative is aimed at driving the development of rural as well as urban sector while addressing the needs of the bottom of the social pyramid. The summit presentation will emphasize on having in-depth case-studies on design interventions in the social sector.
